Hubbard Ranch
The Hubbard Ranch is located in the Ozark Mountains of North Central
Arkansas near the town of Marshall. The rocky and steep terrain of the ranch encourages the growth of sound hooves and strong bone in our colts. We furnish good grass and clean water and let our colts develop naturally. We usually start colts as late two year olds and early three year olds. Our brood mare band consists of five own granddaughters of Joe Reed II. These mares were crossed with our stallion Mr. Sugar Sand, a grandson of Sugar Bars, Leo San, and Della King. From this cross we have saved several broodmares. We have crossed both sets of these mares with some of the top barrel sires in the country. We also have a number of running bred mares, own daughters of Shawnee Bug, Bugs Alive in 75 and Martha Six Moons as well as others. We have our first crop of colts by our Buckskin stud, His Honors Last by Jet of Honor. We’ve been pleased with the variety of color he has thrown. Having your favorite color is nice, but we also believe the old adage, ‘A good hoss cain’t have a bad color’. This year we bred several mares to our other Buckskin by On The Money Red for 2004 colts. We also have a Palomino stallion by Mr. Sugar Sand. All three stallions have the same mother, Lasan Reed by Whiskey Bert by Joe Reed II. We produce colts with good feet and bone, speed and athletic ability and above all the great heart and mind of the legendary Joe Reed II. We offer colts of all ages and all colors and usually have a few good colts in barrel training around the country. Once in a blue moon we’ll let a brood mare go. Our goal is to produce sound barrel and performance horses that will continue to perform long after their futurity and derby years. Come visit us at any time. Ron and Sandi Hubbard
